Michael Vick’s, LeSean McCoy’s Rib Injuries Hurting Eagles’ Offense

October 4, 2010

The news for the Philadelphia Eagles could have been much worse.

According to Andy Reid, quarterback Michael Vick does not have any broken ribs, nor a broken collarbone, but he did suffer some damage to his ribs.

"Michael Vick has a rib cartilage injury," Reid said. "There are no broken bones, but he does have a rib cartilage injury. It's up high in the second and third ribs."

Unfortunately for the Eagles, that's not the only offensive injury update as LeSean McCoy is experiencing rib problems as well.

"LeSean McCoy has a rib fracture and they're doing some further tests on that but right now he has one rib fracture," Reid added.

The loss of McCoy could be just as significant as the loss of Vick, as the Eagles running back has had an exceptional start to the season with 445 yards from scrimmage from four touchdowns while acting as the team's feature back.

Kevin Kolb struggled against the Redskins after replacing Vick, and rumors had begun to swirl that Jeff Garcia would perhaps be the answer, but it appears that Vick will be back relatively soon.

Still, there is no timetable for his return.

"We'll just see how he feels," Reid said.
