Randy Moss established himself as an NFL legend on the Minnesota Vikings. But he didn’t get a shot at the Super Bowl until he left the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

The outspoken wide receiver finally got that chance in 2007 when he joined the New England Patriots, who rattled off 18 wins in a row to earn a date with the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

That game didn’t go too well for New England, but Moss still had fond memories from the whole experience, including a unique piece of advice from head coach Bill Belichick.

Moss’ entertaining story also has merit, as Belichick’s message to avoid celebrities and not go overboard in pregame warmups actually is quite pertinent ahead of what should be a star-studded affair at Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday.

It also was pretty hilarious to watch the 37-year-old sweat it out as he talked about his awkward encounter — or lack thereof — with Jay-Z before the 2012 Super Bowl as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

Belichick’s advice apparently stuck with Moss enough to make him avoid the rap superstar on the sidelines. Blame it on the hoodie, Randy.
