FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots bolstered their linebacker depth by adding a familiar face.

The Patriots re-signed Cameron Gordon, the linebacker’s agent, Brett Tessler, tweeted Monday. Gordon spent the 2014 season on injured reserve and was released by the Patriots on May 18.

Gordon went undrafted out of Michigan last year. He played wide receiver and safety before switching to linebacker during his time with the Wolverines. He led Michigan with five sacks in 2013.

Gordon joins Darius Fleming, Jonathan Freeny, Dane Fletcher, James Morris, Dekoda Watson, Matthew Wells, Chris White and Xzavier Dickson as depth behind starting linebackers Jamie Collins, Dont’a Hightower and Jerod Mayo.

The Patriots still have three open spots on their 90-man roster.
